Funding

Much journalism, of varying quality, is funded by billionaires, for their own political purposes.  That journalism is often mixed with infotainment and entertainment.  Little of it can adequately be described as public interest journalism.

When journalism, of varying quality, is funded mainly by advertising, it is mainly presented as drama.  It then causes its consumers to feel anxious enough to consume more and more.  That is certainly not in the public interest, even though governments may try to claim otherwise.

When journalism, of varying quality, is funded mainly by taxpayers, that funding tends to be lumped together with the funding of other cultural products, of varying quality, for various audiences and purposes.

If you regard pleasant politics as an essential outcome of public interest journalism, perhaps you find it quite surprising that such journalism is not properly funded.

If you are not yet involved in the provision of quality news reports through the provision and/or funding of public interest journalism, why not?

Perhaps you are not interested in paying for public interest journalism.
